Where will this project take us?

The "I just felt running project" uses two very simple but highly effective strategies to allow students to gain a sense of how the project will develop over the fortnight:

1)  'The Big picture'  - a calendar of events and learning pinned to the classroom wall and door so students know what to expect and deadlines

2)  Students create a model to represent themselves on their journey through the project. Students do this on day one and track the miles they have run throughout the fortnight, making their way to Bamburgh from Cramlington as they gain miles on their daily runs.

Ensuring academic rigour

Students are required to apply mathematical thinking to their designs in the "Freight to Furniture" project. Learning content and academic rigour are fundamental to the project plan.

Students use their initial design, drawings and prototype models to talk round and discuss possible ideas and approaches to their work with each other and their teachers.

A great selection of projects

Students in year 7 , 8 and 9 have been able to choose from a wide range of teacher designed projects. each students pick their preferred three and we endeavour to get every student one of these choices.

A great Project Introdcution

I loved the introduction to this project, which just goes to prove you  can study the world through just about anything.

The students are studying world war one, particularly on a local level. The students are producing a cycling map, which sets up trails that then inform visitors of local history. The combination of content knowledge, engaging activities and a purposeful product are all key motivational strategies for this project.
This slide show highlights the big picture of the project, has teaching prompts and questions to teach the content, highlights and makes relevant enticing trips out on bikes, and includes the practicalities to make the project run smoothly.
